Alabama River temporary lock closures pending

Funds have become available to inspect and repair the navigation locks at Claiborne, Millers Ferry, and Robert F. Henry Dams. The US Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District has scheduled all three for closure in 2010, each for 30 days: Millers Ferry (May 4 – June 2), Claiborne (Sep 8 – Oct 6), and RF Henry (Oct 19 – Nov 17). Millers Ferry Lock was last closed in 1979, Claiborne in 1996, and RF Henry has never been closed since its opening in 1972.
