Announcing 13 Campsites
Clarke County Commissioner Patricia DuBose announced on Dec. 8, 2008, that her County Engineer has designated THREE new primitive campsites on the Alabama River for the Alabama Scenic River Trail users.  These sites are on sandbars and  have signs posted,  The sand will be comfortable under a tent, while disembarking a canoe or kayak will be easy.  Fire rings will be established so that Leave No Trace practices can be accomplished.  The Alabama Marine Patrol will be monitoring the area.  Those specific locations near local landmarks and GPS waypoints are shown below:  Out thanx to Commissioner DuBose!
