Outfitters and Adventure Services

Around here, we don’t call just anybody who sells boats and outfitter. We don’t think you’ll have trouble finding those on your own. To qualify for the ASRT Outfitter (or adventure services if you will) business must provide the service and experience of paddling. An outfitter should provide a shuttle service (and sometimes other transportation) between put-ins and take-outs along their respective river stretches. They should be experts in the paddling opportunities in their areas and warn of dangers where they exist. All can assist you on getting into the water at any level from beginner to expert. Outfitters are a good way to try a boat, even a different kind from the one you might already have, before you buy. Don’t expect a lot of expert guidance from big-box stores.

If you are traveling with no boat, want to add a person to your adventure and need accessories, or just need transportation arrangements for your own equipment, call on our outstanding outfitters.

Important Information from Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources: Fishing licenses and fishing and hunting information (and much more). Resident and out of state visitors may register online here.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has a wealth of information here. A guide to many of the state’s rivers is here.

Outfitters in this section are organized by the ASRT District operate in and not necessarily by all the rivers and streams they might take you on. Where available, that information is presented in the descriptions.

Our Districts at a Glance

The map of Alabama, above, shows the way in which the Alabama Scenic River Trail districts lie and the rivers that lie within each district. The following list of outfitters are organized into groups that correspond to each district to make it easier to locate an otfitter that will serve you where you want to paddle. Howeveer, keep in mind that some of the outfitters listed may serve only a few miles of river while others may offer services far beyond the boundaries of their districts. This list, combined with our Trip Planner information and our Trail Angel listing, will be a powerful took in planning yor adventures.
