Recommended Put In & Take Out

Put-In: Use Big Wills Outfitters, 2881 Wesson Gap Road, Attalla, as a place to park and pay them to shuttle you upstream or rent a kayak. An option at the end of this trip is to paddle a bit further under a railroad bridge – but you must first ask the outfitter if the log jam is still present. If you do go ahead, then a dangerous low-head dam with rebar and metal grist mill parts are in the left side breach. Instead of the breach, portage on the right side which is also a fully developed campground – you can float about a quarter mile more to their take-out, or rent their inner-tubes for a lazy time on the water.
