The Trail Angel Initiative
For Paddlers
When it comes to paddling adventures in Alabama, the more prepared you are, the better! Alabama offers many diverse paddling trails ranging from flat water to whitewater, creating opportunities for all levels of paddlers to enjoy. ASRT’s local Trail Angel network can provide detailed paddling information, portage assistance, and recommendations for safe places to camp using one of our many campsites along the waterways.
For Trail Angel Volunteers
As a Trail Angel, Alabama Scenic River Trail asks for your knowledge and occasionally your time to help a paddler best navigate a waterway local to you. A call might come weeks before a paddler ever hits the water, or days after a paddler has encountered the need for assistance. These requests for assistance may come as a request for portage transportation or even a supply run. You choose your level of assistance. You are not required to pick up or meet a paddler. You are asked to share your knowledge to help aid a paddler along the waterway. The aid you provide is strictly your choice.
Anyone can be a Trail Angel! Maybe you’ve paddled a long trail and want to give back. Maybe you live close to a waterway and are inspired by the people paddling. Trail Angels, like you, are an integral part of the Alabama Scenic River Trail paddling community.
