How did I get involved with ASRT? “I became involved with ASRT very early on after being contacted by the Founder, Fred Couch, concerning his need for portages around three dams operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where I was employed. We provided the portages, and I strongly believed in Fred’s vision for this trail and have supported it ever since.”

What do I think everyone should know about Alabama’s waterways? “There are beautiful facilities spread across the state available to individuals and families to enjoy the waterways. Our state has the most navigable miles of any state, and access points for power boats and small paddle crafts are plentiful. Campgrounds and parks operated by Alabama State Parks and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are the most modern in the nation, and families can enjoy many activities along these waterways.
