Trip Summary

A trip to Saunta Cave NWR gets you up close with bats. The hike is guided and teaches you about the habitat the bats need to exist and their importance in the ecosystem. After that go find random odds and ends at Unclaimed Baggage a collectors mecca of stuff. The town of Scottsboro is small but offers some great lunch spots unique to the area. Payne’s Sandwich Shop and Soda Fountain is the oldest soda fountain in Alabama, Pikeville Store and Deli offers one of Alabamas best cheesburgers, while 50 Taters hosts generous portions in a funky atmosphere. After lunch go to Weathington Park and enjoy one of the best views of Lake Guntersville in Alabama.
