Trip Summary

Cool steady current in remote setting. In the mid 1800’s Civil War era, part of the river was diverted into a mill race, then in an underground tunnel to operate a waterwheel that cooled the flames in Cornwall Iron Furnace. Use Tooga Yaks Company as place to park your vehicles and shuttle to their private put-in near Prices Bridge in Georgia. This waterway averages 100-feet wide with enjoyable current for miles where it meets Weiss Lake. Camp on some islands and at Tooga Yaks shady location. Visit Cornwall Iron Furnace and take out on a causeway above Cedar Bluff. Bass. Catfish and Bream abound in these waters. Enjoy this easy going float through some of Alabama’s most beautiful scenery.
